About IOPEN
IOPEN seeks to provide intelligent software and hardware solutions. It is IOPEN's mission that every
customer should be able to see clear and immediate benefits to using an IOPEN solution --
simply put, the customer should save time, money or both.
IOPEN strongly believes in backing open standards, in order to reduce customer lock-in. Our test is simple --
every customer should continue to use solutions provided by IOPEN because they are happy with the service,
quality, and value offered by IOPEN, not because the technology prevents them from choosing a new supplier.
Because it is not possible to provide a high quality service in every aspect of software and hardware design,
implementation, and deployment at once, IOPEN is committed to recommending other companies that are known to
be highly capable in our areas of weakness.
The Directors
Brian Chatterton
Brian Chatterton has a B.Sc.(Hons) degree in Physics,
and has been involved in a wide variety of commercial and industrial IT
projects involving computer networking, databases, data collection,
process monitoring and supervisory control - often in harsh
environments.
He brings to IOPEN considerable experience in real-time software
design and implementation, and interfacing with specialised I/O devices
such as scale indicators, thermal label printers, industrial inkjet
printers, barcode readers, PLCs, photo-eyes, and SSRs.
Within IOPEN Brian looks after the Christchurch office, doing software design and development, providing
customer support, tending firewalls, and working on the design and
implementation of innovative IT products.
Richard Waid
Richard Waid has a BSc in Computer Science, as well as a strong background in Mechanical Engineering. His primary
areas of expertise are strong cryptography, Internet security, data analysis/classification and networking, and programming
in several languages, although he also has a lot of experience with web and interface development, and even product marketing.
Richard's major roles within IOPEN are looking after the Wellington office, working on the development of
our collaborative software platform, GroupServer, providing Zope consultancy, design and deployment and
doing network design and deployment, as well as freelance technical book editing.
The Effusion Group
IOPEN is proud to be a founding member of the Effusion Group, a groundbreaking
technology brokerage, dedicated to putting companies with a problem together with companies who have the solution. All the
Effusion Group member companies have a firm commitment to the use of open standards. Both Brian and Richard are
active directors of the Effusion Group, along with Directors from Lakros,
Egressive, Aphid, and
Zype.
Effusion Group member companies have a proven track record of excellence, and we often use and recommend products and services
offered by other Effusion Group companies in areas where the IOPEN skill set may be less than perfect.
