Case Study: Scheduled Image Display System (SIDS)
Overview
In 2001, IOPEN was invited to travel to Austin, Texas, to advise and consult
on the design of a Linux based system for displaying images, on a scheduled basis, to
a large number of display panels and billboards throughout the US.
While the business model backing the venture ultimately failed, IOPEN designed and
implemented software capable of displaying images and video on thousands of autonomous
display units simultaneously, for hundreds of users.
